Hey hey party people,
The number one question on everyone’s lips is, “Where’s your book, Zoe???”
So. I turned in my manuscript for Fashion School in a Book: Design and Illustration for the Beginner and the Brand July 15, the word doc and a LOT of images, mostly hand drawn. My right hand was out of commission for at least a week. A few weeks after that, my editor sent me the word doc with her notes.
Insert happy dance here! The next steps mostly included “front and back matter” which included acknowledgements, dedication, a bibliography, things like that. I sent everything off, with my review of the edits, and now my book is in layout with the book designer! Back in February, we had gone back and forth with the book designer’s sample chapter for the overall feel and design. Now we wait! *rubs hands together impatiently*
Y’all. I’ve completely fallen in love with writing books. What should I write next? I’m thinking maybe a Color Theory for Fashion book or a book called, How to Bankrupt Your Fashion Brand Real Quick.
Meanwhile, I’m doing a few things I couldn’t get around to earlier this year like designing some mugs with my Zo-isms! I have absolutely been drinking all my coffee out of my own mugs.
I’m also running a sale on my fashion figure and flat template sketchbooks! Use code "Back-to-school-sale" for 20% off! Sale ends Sept 6
.For those of you new to me, my husband was run over by a car May 2023. He required many surgeries and had to relearn how to walk. He was in the hospital for over two months and in rehab for another seven months. When the tide turned and it seemed he would recover well, his sister and I started planning a celebratory family trip to Japan! I’ll be in Japan Oct 3-23! Tokyo, Kanazawa, Osaka, and Kyoto, with day trips to Kobe, Nara, and maybe Hachioji. I’m super excited! If I’m not working, I’m obsessing over trip planning!
I’m still posting regularly to YouTube and Patreon. Tomorrow I’m interviewing a fashion designer friend for the channel, who is starting her own brand, as well as creating a brand new fabric for it! I’ll ask her all about the process of getting a custom fabric made.
Come find me here if you want to book a one-on-one to discuss your own business ideas, fashion collections, and fashion design portfolios.
Color Theory for Fashion is a great idea for a second book! I would definitely buy that too 🤩
So very exciting Zoe! And I'm so glad your husband is recovering ... I wasn't aware, it sounds very difficult, thank goodness he's on the mend. I envy your trip to Japan, I've always wanted to go to Kyoto and see all the artists and artisans at work. Who's your book publisher?
